  8.     NetPar is a network printing package for the
  9. Amiga. It works with any bsdsocket.library compatible
  10. protocol stack (i.e. AmiTCP and Miami) with a InetD
  11. daemon. It includes both Server and Client side software.
  12.  
  13.    NetPar is Amiga specific at this release. Future
  14. releases will be RFC-1179 complient (Unix Line Printer
  15. Daemon Protocol) and (?maybe?) Samba complient. Please
  16. read below announcement if you need RFC-1179 complience.

  18.    NetPar Client at this time, cannot be used with a
  19. Network ready printer. Sorry for any time wasted trying
  20. out my program.

  37. ANNOUNCEMENT (Actually a cry for help).

  40.    After multiple request from users, I am going to
  41. start working on the lpr/lpd portion of the code. Due to
  42. to the complexity of the program, I have decided to release
  43. the lpr/lpd NetPar in two steps.
  44.  
  45. Step #1) Aminet Release 2.0
  46.  
  47.          Write a very basic lpr Client. Client will have
  48.          very few options since this release is mainly for
  49.          the server. Server side will include a Server
  50.          Preferences program (In GadTools ... for now) to
  51.          allow the user to configure the server on the
  52.          fly. Server side spooling will also be included as
  53.          well as multiple printer setups.
  54.  
  55.          Expected release time is around the middle of March 98.

  57. Step #2) Aminet Release 2.1
  58.  
  59.          Barring any major bugfixes with the server, now I
  60.          will work in the client. Add spooling to client.
  61.          Re-write the printer preferences program to allow
  62.          for local printing as well as network printing.
  63.  
  64.          No Expected Release time until Step #1 is complete.

  66. I am expecting to have a working version of the basic lpr
  67. client in the next two weeks. I have a few volunteers to
  68. test this program but I am opening up this offer to everyone.
  69. If you want to test lpr NetPar client, just send me an
  70. e-mail and I will ship you a copy of the lpr NetPar Client
  71. as soon as it is ready for testing. With it, you should
  72. be able to print with any RFC-1179 complient Network Ready
  73. printer as well as any lpd Unix Boxes ...You will also be
  74. able to influence the final NetPar product and get your
  75. name mentioned in the NetPar AmigaGuide docs......
